Casual dining is a favorite pastime for many people, but especially for those in South Florida near Galuppi’s. Who doesn’t love a wide array of mouth-watering appetizers and meal options, particularly ones you don’t have to cook yourself? With casual dining, there is no responsibility for preparation ahead of time, and certainly no clean-up. The only job, as restaurant guests, is to sit back and enjoy.

As relaxing and enjoyable as casual dining can be, many will rightly wonder: how healthy is it to eat out all the time? Truth be told, it’s very easy to make it an unhealthy experience. For those who are trying to make healthier food choices, you’re in luck: there are still plenty of menu options at Galuppi’s that are lower in calorie, sugar, and fat content.

Not all restaurants are synonymous with being unhealthy. Galuppi’s is pleased to offer several menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to satisfy your dietary needs.

The most important meal of the day is offered at Galuppi’s from 7am to 4pm. The popular options are pancakes, waffles, and those that come with bacon or sausage. But if you’re counting calories, our avocado toast may be for you. Nothing says “healthy” like fresh avocado, every time.

Another option is our Nova Platter, which includes fresh vegetables on a bagel. You can also add veggies to a customized omelet, or any egg dish cooked however you like it. Top it off by requesting a side of fresh fruit or oatmeal.

Lunch

Whether you need a midday break at work or while sight-seeing as a tourist, Galuppi’s is the place to go for lunch. Our salads provide just the right amount of taste and healthy nourishment. Choose from Thai Skirt Steak Crunch, with lettuce and Asian slaw with peanut vinaigrette (feel free to ask for dressing on the side).

The Mediterranean is another great option, with spinach, grilled salmon, olives, and nuts. The Walnut Apple contains two very healthy foods – you guessed it – walnuts and apples with romaine lettuce in a light vinaigrette.

If you’re looking for something a little bit more filling, you can request grilled chicken over crispy, or a veggie patty instead of a traditional beef patty. Additionally, you can substitute any meal option with healthy sides such as seasonal vegetables, black beans, or a house salad, in place of less healthy options like fries and tater tots.

Dinner

End your day with a delicious dinner at Galuppi’s. Sure, we offer traditional burgers, wings, and tacos, but those looking for healthier fare still have plenty of options. From entree salads, to fish tacos, and grilled rather than fried chicken, health-conscious patrons won’t go hungry. Be sure to check out other fish options, pan-seared and served with seasonal vegetables and rice. Any high-calorie side dish, such as fries or loaded baked potatoes, can be switched to seasonal vegetables, asparagus, or a side house salad.

If you’re dining with a group, our crowd-pleasing charcuterie boards are a great option. Choose from a meat and cheese board, which includes a delicious fig spread, or a fruit and cheese board.

Don’t forget that no matter which meal you choose, you can take some in a to-go box to limit calories, not to mention have something good to dine on tomorrow.

Healthier Beverage Options

Water is by far the healthiest beverage choice for anyone looking to make nutritious choices. But going out is a chance to do something a little bit different from the ordinary. Many people want to use the opportunity to switch things up and try something a little out of their usual routine. Fortunately, there are healthier ways to do that when casual dining.

First things first, it will probably mean avoiding drink options that are high in sugar, such as sodas, juices, and cocktails. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have other options! For non-alcoholic drink choices, there is iced tea, or mixing iced tea with lemonade in a classic Arnold Palmer. Breakfast offers orange juice, which is full of much-needed calcium and Vitamin D.

If you want to be a bit more fancy, consider our menu of dry white and red wines (the latter is said to be good for your heart – within moderation, of course). Those wanting some carbonation may want to consider our wild berry or mango seltzers, which contain fewer calories than traditional beers. If you want to have a taste without having to drink an entire glass, you’re welcome to ask your server for a taster of any of our rotating beers.
